Bosch Aerospace Daily Flight Reports
The Flight Across America in the AN-2 Research Aircraft
Sensor Flights Day Two

This is one tight parking job.

Jim washes the windows while I install the GPS interface to the payload.

The computer was fixed last night, it was a hard drive controller. It is re installed and tested before the flight.

This is a shot of the belly port, where the radiometer is located.

A shot of the sensor.

I put on a light load of fuel, only 80 gallons.

Here is Mike fueling the other side.

Clouds and haze over the target area when we first arrived. The flight lines were over and just South of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. After a few passes, the clouds burned off and the Navy was able to complete the mission.

A good Navy is a happy navy... They got their imagery.

A cockpit shot just prior to landing back at College Park.

Another great landing at the worlds oldest operational airport.

The guys got over 10,000 frames of imagery. That should keep a bunch of grad students busy for a year or two.

Bosch aerospace hats for all!

As the first phase of the mission drew to a close, the racks were removed through the giant cargo door of the AN-2.

Take off over College Park for the last time on this trip. We loaded up with 180 gallons of fuel for the trip back to Moontown, Alabama.

Flying the canyons of clouds and dodging the thunder storms over North Carolina.

As the day drew to a close, Raleigh Durham International Airport looked like a good place to stop for the night.
